Supermarkets & Bakeries Near Le Mans — Where to Go

New to this? Start with our supermarket run guide.

There are no proper supermarkets inside the circuit — you’ll need to head just outside to stock up.

The good news: there are plenty of options close by, and some are much better than others depending on where you’re staying.

Please see the google map at the bottom of this page.

Quick summary: Carrefour for big shops, Super U for Arnage side, and bakeries for easy breakfast runs.

The Main Supermarkets (Best Options)

These are the ones most people use during race week:

  • Carrefour (North of the circuit) — the main one, huge and well stocked.
  • Intermarché — good alternative, often a bit quieter
  • Carrefour Market — the one at Mulsanne is smaller but useful for quick top-ups

The large Carrefour North of the circuit is the most popular option and easy to reach by car or tram.

A little further away is the Hyper U at Écommoy, South of the Mulsanne Corner or Auchan Hypermarché, North of the Circuit, . These are great for your main shop of the week.

Expect them all to be busy during race week — especially Thursday and Friday.

If You’re Staying Near Arnage / Mulsanne

You don’t need to fight your way back to the main circuit supermarkets.

There are local options nearby in Arnage and Mulsanne which are often much easier to access.

These are ideal for:

  • Quick beer runs
  • Top-up food shops
  • Avoiding traffic around the main entrances

Bakeries (The Easy Win)

This is one of the best parts of Le Mans.

A quick bakery run in the morning is:

  • Fast
  • Cheap
  • Much better than circuit food
  • Local boulangeries — fresh bread, pastries and sandwiches
  • Town centre bakeries — often higher quality and more choice
  • Village bakeries (Arnage/Mulsanne) — ideal if staying nearby

Grab coffee, croissants, maybe a sandwich — and you’re sorted for the morning.

Go early — the best stuff sells out quickly.

What to Expect

  • Supermarkets will be busy (especially peak times)
  • Stock levels can drop later in the week
  • Bakeries can sell out early in the morning

Plan ahead and go early where possible.

Simple Strategy (This Works)

  • Do one big shop early in the week
  • Use smaller supermarkets for top-ups
  • Use bakeries for breakfast and quick food

That way you avoid queues, save time, and eat better.

Final Thought

You don’t need to overthink this.

There’s plenty of food around — just don’t leave everything until the last minute.

And yes… French bakery breakfast is worth it.
