I guess everyone has their own favourite must have campsite gizmos - after all its half the fun! Anyone can just turn up with a tent - but being one up from that is an addictive Le Mans pastime.

Here you have, in no special order, some of the must haves in 2005. We have a special gadget area in our forum, and your thoughts as to the best items are very much welcomed!

1) Paddling Pool (or Jacuzzi) NOW BANNED ON OFFICIAL ACO CAMPSITES!

It used to be okay to splash around in a small kids play pool, but not any more - people will measure your Le Mans prowess by your pool - how big, self cleaning, jacuzzi etc

2) Security - must have protection from the Pikeys! At least get a fence, and better still appoint a security officer

3) Running water - make sure you are in reach of the nearest tap and fit a splitter. If you then fit another splitter at your end you have water on demand and also a source to share with your neighbours - now that's got to be worth a cold beer?

4) Team flags, and the higher your flag pole the better. People need to be able to see where you come from and if you are a Beermountain member!

4) A decent BBQ. Forget those little silver tin trays with charcoal - go for something decent. Whilst some say gas is for wimps, for us it's the height of decent cooking!

5) Lighting. Consider how best to illuminate your camp at night, and if you like a progressive disco, you might fancy something like these...

6) Satellite TV - a world cup must have - don't forget you will need a paired decoder and card - they will work at Le Mans as long as you have some form of dish..

7) A "cooler" - somewhere to put an misbehaving members of your team until they learn the errors of their ways - we feel that our Disney tent is ideal!

8) A bar (and barman) - somewhere to enjoy a civilised drink!

9) A generator - ideally something near silent and at least 5kw, with a run time of over 12 hours

10) Fireworks for Sunday night - finish off with a bang!

There you go for a starter, but the real fun is improving on your gadgets and must haves each year - don't just stand still! Let us know what your favourite gadgets are in the forum
