A big favourite with it's loyal regulars, this busy site is
situated on the outfield, just past the grandstands. Popular with car club
members and motor campers, this site can be hard to get a ticket for. Facilities
are reasonable and the atmosphere is good, possibly a bit more reserved than
some others. Has both track side areas and more peaceful parts. In 2007 pitches
were marked but not numbered and split into zones A-E (see zone map). Security
enforced camping in the correct zone.
2008 update Maison
Blanche will have numbered (35 square meters ) spaces for the first
time. We believe the zone system will therefore no longer exist. Work to
the roads which form a driver training track outside of the race weekend
will include some new gravel traps and pit lanes. The site will be
largely the same shape, with a few less spaces overall. Motorhomes are
still to be permitted.
- Pros: Easy walk on the flat to the track; good
atmosphere; concrete roads; Mad Friday outside on the main road!
- Cons: None really, just book early and make
sure you have enough tickets for the space you will be needing.
- Typical camper: Long term LM nuts, big
organised groups, plus a few anoraks
Here is BM member Mr Caddy
Daddy's review of Maison Blanche in 2007.:
Pitch Size: This was a problem. Only
really big enough for a small tent and small gazebo, you really needed
another Camping Pass so that you could park your car. The pitch sizes
and layout was enforced and subsequently by Thursday the site felt very
crowded. My recommendation would be to make sure you have maybe one more
pass than you think you will need.
Zones: We Camped in Zone E and the Ground
was soft when we arrived Tuesday, by the Race Weekend there was plenty
of Mud which made access a little difficult, particularly when the Bin
Lorry got stuck in one of the Main Access Roads. Zones D and E seemed to
be the worse for the Mud though it was pretty sticky all round.
Facilities: Were the same for this year as
they have been for many years. Not enough showers and toilets to cope
with the demand. To their credit the Attendants try their best to keep
them clean though. The shower block by the Main MB entrance was a good
bet as not that many Campers realised it was there, ruined that now
haven't I?
Atmosphere: Very good with the usual
Cosmopolitan Mix biased towards English, but watch out for the Marauding
Danes as they visited us and nearly cleared us out of Beer .Very Good
Company they were though.
Security: There was a problem with thefts
this year, which were perpetrated it would seem by some English Chavs.
My recommendation is to make sure if it's valuable or useful, to lock it
away in the car, or make sure it's secure.

The business - worth working hard
to get
A fine campsite, have no worries at all
staying here
No major problems, but if you have a choice, this is
not the top drawer of sites
Not a disaster, but unless your needs are very specific,
this probably wasn't your first choice
See if you can trade for something better, but at least
you have somewhere to camp, right?
