Camping Houx pitches - numbered map - click to

Much smaller than it's noisy neighbour, and is situated behind the village
opposite Houx Annexe. Camping Houx offers better facilities, including
electrical hook up and full toilet/shower set up. Each ticket you buy gives you
a marked out plot of fixed dimensions - usually just big enough to get a small motorhome into
(but sometimes not!). Because you have a numbered plot, you don't need to worry about
arriving early - the place is yours. Make sure if you have more than one ticket
that they are adjacent plots. It's a nightmare if your plot is split up or
the wrong size though...
2008 Update No changes
to this already excellent campsite. The only site with electricity
available at your numbered pitch.
- Pros: Great for "full service" campers; hard to get tickets;
easy walk to the village
- Cons: Relatively expensive if you don't need what's on offer
- Typical Camper: Smaller groups, mix of
aficionados, anoraks and people who like their creature comforts
Review from Beermountain Member Private Godfrey,
who camped there in 1999 and 2001:
"On paper this is the best campsite - all the
facilities (including FREE ELECTRICITY), not far from the back of the
village, and the knowledge you are going into a marked spot, even if you
arrive on Friday. Its a relaxed place with a mix of open ground and fir
tree lined pitches. We only encountered two problems. Firstly, large
groups need to know that their places are together - this could be
critical if you have any large vehicles. Secondly, we got stuck in a
flood at the East end where the ground around pitch row 41 will become a
small lake. On balance however, you should have no concerns - it's a
great place to stay"

The business - worth working hard
to get
A fine campsite, have no worries at all
staying here
No major problems, but if you have a choice, this is
not the top drawer of sites
Not a disaster, but unless your needs are very specific,
this probably wasn't your first choice
See if you can trade for something better, but at least
you have somewhere to camp, right?
