Beausejour

Fast becoming a favourite place for many fans - a longer walk to the track and the Village than most camp sites, but otherwise a fine place to stay

Added at the last minute in 2002, this site is out past Karting Nord where the road goes under the track. It's getting more organised now, and has good viewing potential (if slightly remote).

  • Pros: Views nearby of a great part of the track
  • Cons: Much semi official "fencing off" of private areas for locals/marshals/others
  • Typical Camper: Mr Last Minute - "camping tickets - do you buy those on the gate?". Increasing numbers of Chavs and those who don't care where they end up

2009 Update Continued flooding issues in parts of the site after 3 wet years in a row. The toilet areas are reportedly in better shape - more organised in 2008 than before.

2008 Update Beausejour will be broken into two areas, a zone with 105m2 areas, and a zone with smaller 35m2 plots.

A cautionary 2006 review from Beermountain member Mr Smitters:

"This year was completely different to last year. We were guided into a pitch, instead of being able to choose our neighbours, which was highly annoying, especially as we'd arrived early to ensure we could go where we wanted to!

The local toilet block was no longer manned, so was filthy most of the time and the showers were always cold. not so bad when the weather's warm, but a bit much when it's freezing.

There were large areas close to the entrance fenced off for pre-paid groups, meaning even an early arrival was guaranteed a pretty hefty walk.

The security were pretty useless - more traffic controllers.

The idiot element was much higher this year. I saw chavved out cars doing handbrake turns really close to tents and other cars. The most out of order thing we saw was an old boy trying to take a hammer to said  car as it had splashed mud up his camper van!

The pikies were much worse. We didn't lose anything we didn't want to, but every time they came past we were all standing and just watching them, which meant a stressed out end to the trip and a late departure.

I'll not be coming back here unless I've no choice."

The business - worth working hard to get

A fine campsite, have no worries at all staying here

No major problems, but if you have a choice, this is not the top drawer of sites

Not a disaster, but unless your needs are very specific, this probably wasn't your first choice

See if you can trade for something better, but at least you have somewhere to camp, right?
